A Glimpse Through the Window: Flower Arranging in Cotherstone 🌸
If you wander into Cotherstone Village Hall on the fourth Thursday of the month, you might just catch a moment of magic. It’s the kind of scene that feels plucked straight from a storybook—sunlight dancing off petals, quiet laughter over cups of coffee, and a shared sense of creativity blooming among friends.
This is where Val Guest leads a monthly flower arranging class, guiding participants through beautiful and thoughtful designs. One recent highlight? A charming structured arrangement titled “A View From A Kitchen Window.” With its delicate balance and soothing aesthetic, it captures the art of finding beauty in the everyday—a perfect reminder of the joy flowers can bring.
These classes run from 10am each fourth Thursday at Cotherstone Village Hall, Barnard Castle (DL12 9PH), and offer more than just floral skills. They’re about community, connection, and creativity. Val’s demonstrations are followed by friendly discussions over coffee, and participants go home inspired to try the design themselves the following month.
The sessions are non-profit, with costs simply covering the tutor and hall hire. Attendees bring their own flowers and foliage, making each creation personal and unique. The year is split into two welcoming terms: March to August and September to December.
