Gateshead Floral Art Club Gateshead Floral Art Club was started in 1965 and during that time some of our talented members have enriched and enhanced some very prestigious buildings – Durham Cathedral and Newcastle Cathedral to name two of them Our meetings are held every third Wednesday afternoon at The Angel Inn on the A167 across the road to the grand Angel of the North. Members can have lunch before our meeting and can also partake of a glass of wine or a G and T whilst watching the demonstration. We are lucky to have two very accomplished National Demonstrators who keep our costs down by giving the most wonderful in house demonstrations. We also have a lively programme of outside demonstrators who come along and entertain us on the other Wednesdays. Occasionally we have a talented speaker to talk to us and show slides about best loved plants or maybe a well known garden. Every November we arrange an Open Afternoon when we invite a demonstrator from elsewhere in the country to come and join us. This is a lovely afternoon when we are joined by visitors who enjoy the floral displays and the Christmas sparkle. We also fund raise at this event by having a raffle, tombola and various stalls. Unfortunately, due to an ageing demography, our numbers have dropped since Covid. However, we are all working together and it is our combined hope that we can get our membership numbers back up. Fingers crossed we can do this and keep our afternoons of friendship and fun going. A Manuel 02/07/2025
